"UK must adopt a ‘water-saving culture’", Waterwise

The not-for-profit group, Waterwise has asserted that there is a need to “generate a water-saving culture” and promote water efficiency throughout the UK in order to combat the serious challenges that await, including the challenges of reduced supply and increased demand.

In a wide-ranging report, the organisation said this could be achieved through a large-scale combined communication campaign, which would need the involvement of water companies, government and other key stakeholders.

Water Saving Week 2016

Water Saving Week is a national campaign to promote simple water saving tips for the home, garden, schools, workplace and communities.

Waterwise and WaterSafe are leading the week, which runs from 21 - 25 March 2016.

The campaign aims to raise awareness of the need for everyone to use water wisely - whatever the weather and wherever the location - to protect this precious and finite resource for generations to come.

Report: The role of tap water in public health

This report explores the current landscape of the water sector, health and hydration science.

Water is an essential nutrient vital for our health and hydration with several routes for consumption - from plain water, from other drinks, and from food. The body doesn't distinguish. The role of water in improving public health is important especially given the rising problems of obesity, diabetes and tooth decay as it provides a natural alternative to soft or sugary drinks.

New Environment Agency report on 'Understanding the performance of water supply systems during mild to extreme droughts'

Current water resources planning in England and Wales tests the resilience of public water supply systems against the worst historical droughts in the observed record. This approach, however, does not assess how a water supply system would respond when pushed beyond these historical design conditions. This project aimed to understand the performance of different types of water supply systems to a range of droughts, including those that are more severe than the worst case historical droughts,
