Satellite Applications Catapult - Climate Services Sandpit

 

The Satellite Applications Catapult is hosting a two-day sandpit to develop proof-of-concept climate services projects. The climate services projects will make use of climate information, together with a range of other information, to address real-world problems and challenges faced by businesses and government. The sandpit and projects are funded by the Natural Environment Research Council and will primarily focus on sectors and topics including infrastructure, food and agriculture, water, natural resources and risk management.

Statistics for Climate Science: A Course for Principal Investigators

CliMathNet, the Royal Meteorological Society and the Royal Statistical Society are jointly running a small focussed workshop on the use of statistical techniques for senior climate scientists.

This course is aimed at climate scientists at the Principal Investigator level and will include lectures/workshops on statistical modelling, inference, Bayesian methods and risk and uncertainty and will include time for discussion of particular problems raised by the participants regarding climate variability and change on global, regional and local scales.
