Well Level Data (BGS)

The National Well Record Archive held by the British Geological Survey is a collection of over 105 000 records of springs, water wells and water boreholes in England, Wales and Scotland. The majority of the original records are available as borehole scans.

Groundwater Level Data (BGS)

The National Groundwater Level Archive held by the British Geological Survey records measurements of the depth below the ground surface of the water table, or its height above sea level across 181 sites in the UK.

Groundwater levels depend on aquifer properties, local geological conditions and a complex balance between recharge from rainfall, and discharges to rivers or pumped abstraction.

The data can be used to quantify resources, to understand the flow of groundwater and to measure the impacts of abstraction.

The Geological Society's Two-Day Conference: Groundwater: Managing our Hidden Asset

The Geological Society's Hydrogeological Group and IAH are pleased to announce a two-day conference on 13-14 September 2016 to celebrate the International Association of Hydrogeologists 60th anniversary and the Geological Society's Year of Water, hosted by the University of Birmingham. The conference will incorporate the Ineson Lecture and re-launch of Groundwater our Hidden Asset, supported by the Groundwater Forum.
