Environmental Science Impact Programme: Announcement of Opportunity

 

Closing date and time for outline proposals: 16:00 on 3 March 2016

Awards totalling £2·5-£5m are available to research organisations over 5 years to boost impact from NERC environmental science.

The Environmental Science Impact Programme (ESIP) is dedicated to bringing research organisations together with businesses, policy bodies and other actors contributing to economic development specific to their location to deliver significant regional impact from NERC environmental science.

Reappointment of the NERC chief executive

 

Universities & Science Minister Jo Johnson today announced the reappointment of Professor Duncan Wingham as chief executive of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC).

Jo Johnson said:

"I am very pleased to reappoint Professor Wingham for a further term as chief executive of NERC. His breadth of experience and expertise in environmental science will continue to be important as he leads NERC to support world-class science and increase knowledge and understanding of the natural world."

Funding Opportunity: Oil & Gas Decommissioning

As part of the Oil and Gas Innovation Programme, NERC invites applications for an Innovation funding call focusing on decommissioning and its environmental management. NERC will invest up to £1m in a cohort of projects lasting six to 12 months which translate existing NERC-remit science in the following theme areas:

NERC / BBSRC Sustainable Intensification Network: Invitation to apply

 

Biotechnology & Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), in partnership with NERC, seeks to fund a community-led network to facilitate high-quality research relevant to the sustainable intensification (SI) of agriculture, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary approaches.

Call for ideas for NERC highlight topics

 

NERC is inviting the environmental science community to submit new ideas for strategic research. NERC is seeking ideas for research challenges that should be priorities for strategic research investment through highlight topics. NERC would welcome ideas from both researchers and those who use environmental science research.

Ideas for highlight topics should be submitted to NERC by 19 October 2015.
