Water Management Boundaries (EA)

Environment Agency water management area administrative boundaries at 1:10,000 for England and Wales.

The Environment manages water by area and region. Data types include -

  • Administrative boundaries - Water Management Areas (Polygon)
  • Administrative boundaries - Water Management Regions (Polygon)

Watercourse Network (CEH)

A continuous centreline network of rivers, canals and field drains for Great Britain. The Centre for Ecology & Hydrology’s 1:50,000 watercourse network was derived from Ordnance Survey 1:50,000 maps and was the first continuous digital river network to be produced for Great Britain.

The 1:50,000 watercourses has been used to define flow paths in CEH's Integrated Hydrological Digital Terrain Model (IHDTM), which in turn is used to define drainage paths in the Flood Estimation Handbook CD-ROM.

Tidal and Sea Level Data (BODC)

The British Oceanographic Data Centre (BODC) make quality-controlled National Tidal & Sea Level Facility (NTSLF) data series available online as soon as they are processed for sites around the whole UK.

The UK National Tide Gauge Network was set up as a result of severe flooding along the east coast of England in 1953.

Flood - Recorded Outline of Individual Events (EA)

Recorded Flood Outlines of Individual Events contains the records of historic flooding.

The Environment Agency's Recorded Flood Outline dataset contains each individual flood outline in England and Wales. If a town has flooded for example four times and there are suitable records of this, the dataset will contain an outline for each separate flood event. It would be possible to overlay outlines on top of each other.
