Time Series

Tidal and Sea Level Data (BODC)

The British Oceanographic Data Centre (BODC) make quality-controlled National Tidal & Sea Level Facility (NTSLF) data series available online as soon as they are processed for sites around the whole UK.

The UK National Tide Gauge Network was set up as a result of severe flooding along the east coast of England in 1953.

Surface Water temperature Archive (EA)

This archive is a unique collation of the Environment Agency's water temperature data from more than 30,000 sites across England & Wales. The archive contains water temperature data (up to 2007) and site metadata.

Supply format: Comma delimited

Data availability: Available under the Open Government Licence (OGL).

Other conditions may apply and these are available via the download site.

Sample available: Data can be downloaded immediately.

Well Level Data (BGS)

The National Well Record Archive held by the British Geological Survey is a collection of over 105 000 records of springs, water wells and water boreholes in England, Wales and Scotland. The majority of the original records are available as borehole scans.

River Level Data (SEPA)

SEPA monitors water level at 392 sites throughout Scotland. The portal provides level data for the last few days for 335 of these stations.

Most of the stations are sited on rivers; however data from several tide and loch level recorders are also displayed.

River Flow Data (CEH)

National River Flow Archive time series of river flows measured at gauging stations throughout the United Kingdom, including peak flow (AMAX and POT data).

The National River Flow Archive is the primary archive of daily and peak river flows for the United Kingdom. The central archive comprises over 45,000 station-years of daily river flows and incorporates data from over 1400 gauging stations.

The NRFA comprises a number of datasets -

Lough Level Data (DARDNI)

DARDNI monitors the levels of Lough Neagh and Louch Erne.

The Rivers Agency Hydrometric Section monitors water levels for rivers, sea and loughs at approximately 130 locations across Northern Ireland.

Some 80 gauging stations are situated in rivers, however, the most frequently requested levels are for Lough Neagh and Lough Erne, which are published online. The levels are monitored on a daily basis.

Historic River Quality (EA)

Information regarding the presence, and abundance, of benthic invertebrate species at specific marine monitoring points.

Only data from 2007 onwards is subject to NMBAQC quality assurance.

Supply format: Comma delimited.

Data availability: Available under the Open Government Licence (OGL).

Other conditions may apply and these are available via the download site.

Charge: No charge.

Sample available: Data can be downloaded immediately.

Flood Warnings Live Data Feed (EA)

Flood Warnings are provided by the constant monitoring of stations and forecasting flooding from rivers or the sea. The live feed provides a summary of flood warnings (Alert Warning and Severe) that are sent externally. The Flood Warnings Live Feed provides current status update of every Flood Warning Area in England and Wales.
